Dave Arden

Recently won the National Indigenous Arts Award and the VIPA Song of the Year Award for the song "Freedom Called."

Dave Arden has a proud history within the Aboriginal and Australian music entertainment industry, touring extensively with noted Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal artists such as Archie Roach and the late Ruby Hunter, as well as touring both nationally and internationally as a co-musical director with the Black Arm Band, which included Kutcha Edwards, Paul Kelly, Dan Sultan, Shane Howard, Tiddas, and Bart Willoughby, to name just a few.

Dave Arden is a Gunditjmara/Kokatha storyteller and songman. Dave comes from the Gunditjmara peoples in South Western Victoria and the Kokatha peoples of the West Coast, South Australia. His poetic songs are inspired by a deep passion for country, Dave's upbringing, and his family with whom he shares a special, spiritual, and cultural connection.

Dave Arden was the frontman of the Victorian Aboriginal band, Koori Youth Band, and over the past 28 years, he has performed and shared the stage with many of Australia's finest artists. Dave Arden's musical life journey started from 1986 to 2014.

Dave is now setting out on a new and exciting stage of his career. In a new showcase called "Dave Arden The Gunditjmara/Kokatha Songman, Storyteller," he is touring nationally in 2015.
