ABOUT
On a cold February night in 2010, three friends met up in a small bar on Saint Laurent Boulevard in Montreal for an improvised evening of music. Each one of them brought a good spirit and a small repertoire, and the pleasure they got out of playing together did the rest: the Trio Populaire was born.
Since that day, Tacfarinas Kichou (percussions), Joey Mallat (guitar), and Pierre Emmanuel Poizat (clarinets) have come a long way! Winners of the Montreal Diversity Award in 2013, they had the opportunity to perform on stage for the Festival du Monde Arabe, Festival de Musique du Maghreb, Festival des Traditions du Monde de Sherbrooke, Accès Culture de Montréal, as well as many other events in Montreal and throughout the province of Quebec. At the same time, they remained devoted to their
"musical lab": a recurring evening at the Bar Populaire, which allowed them to test their new repertoire while maintaining a dazzling musical shape.
Bringing people together, their music goes from nostalgic to lively, to contemplative or wild, and it will lead us into an unforgettable journey, away from the boundaries of style or country.
