Pensão Flor

The term "Pensão" means, literally, boarding house. In Portugal, it is often a place where people get accommodation and meals for short periods of time, although sometimes they can live there for months or years, being much cheaper than a hotel. From a romantic point of view, it is a place of crossing of many different people and cultures. Some boarding houses are located in the oldest part of towns, making them notorious for being frequented by prostitutes and dubious men. It is a place where many strange events take place and secrets will never leave the walls.

We named our project "Pensão Flor" (Flower Boarding House) because we are a mix of different people, with different influences. We draw from fado, tango, Cape Verdean morna, and other African rhythms, and we blend it all together to create a whole different experience for us and the audience. Our lyrics and music lie under a veil of mystery, of what could have been, of the untold, of the buried secrets of any boarding house anywhere.
