ABOUT
Niasony - Pulsating Groove from the Congo
Niasony came from the Congo to Germany at the age of 13. Like many of her compatriots, she is torn between a "functioning" Europe and a homeland which is affected by poverty and violence – especially against females.
Niasony entrances her audience with a velvet voice that gets under the skin and a unique balancing act of dance music and melancholy.
Her live show is authentic, pulsating, provoking, and hypnotic.
As serious as her issues (and her glance) are, her message is as positive as her music: "Dancing in the rain is better than waiting for the sun!"
Debut Album "Afroplastique"
Niasony released her debut album Afroplastique on Membran/Sony in the GSA in 2014; the worldwide release followed in 2015.
With her debut album, Niasony presents an astonishing sketch for the afro-international pop music of the future. In the 13 songs, she sings in Lingala - her mother tongue - to modern beat constructions of Dub, Downtempo, Funk, Afro-Soul, or Soukous - and it sounds more like cool club sounds than so-called world music. Niasony is exciting in a universal way: Pop fans will love her strong melodies, while soul fans indulge in her grooves.
In 2015, the Congolese diva took her so-called Afroplastique style, together with Parisian mastermind Tom Fire, directly onto the global dance floor. Tom Fire is well known in the world music scene through his collaborations with artists like MC Solaar, Lek Sen, McAnuff, or Flavia Coelho. Enjoy this energetic and pulsating remix of "Ezanani."
What is also worth mentioning...
The AYF (African Youth Foundation) nominated Niasony in 2012 for "Social Activists" and in 2013 for the Adler Award in the category "Media Entertainment.
