ABOUT
As an author, composer, arranger, and self-taught multi-instrumentalist, Tukkiman delivers his first album, Tukki, in which he defends a humanist and universal approach to music. Cradled in English pop and hip hop, he delivers a hybrid mix of very inspiring compositions, ambitious and accomplished. "I do not write my songs until the music dictates me." When he composes, sounds get together, harmonies spring forth, musical colors mingle – only then words are invented, and place themselves. Never the other way around because Tukkiman is sure: "Intelligent music kills the emotion." His music is direct, generous, warm, and without borders. "When you move your body, carry also your mind." In 2006, he left his native city of Dakar for Paris because he believes that "first, there's emotion; technique is second. Freedom means having more techniques to express our emotions better." For years now, Tukkiman has stretched himself between Dakar, Paris, New York, and Chicago. He has honed his art based on his travels and his inspirations without ever considering his music as an end.
