ABOUT
Talin Tuya is a Mongolian folk singer based in Beijing. Her repertoire includes traditional folk and throat singing. Jordan Thomas Mitchell is an American multi-disciplinary artist and record producer. At the end of 2013, Talin Tuya and JTM began a collaboration in Beijing that resulted in the record, Rock Brother (石头哥哥).

Rock Brother is a never-before-heard mix of traditional Mongolian folk song and overtone throat singing, produced and arranged with a Western sound palette. The result is a sonic vision of future pop music. Blade Runner-esque in aesthetics, combining raw synth basses with huge live brass and string arrangements, numerous Mongolian dialects, overdubbed throat singing swagger, and straight-up sugar pop, Rock Brother draws from the image of a post-nation-state future where information flows are faster from the four corners of the Earth than they are in a single neighborhood.

Mitchell and Tuya commissioned 25 musicians to perform on the record. From Mongolians to Chinese, to Australians, to Americans, Rock Brother is a fully international collaboration. It was produced from November 2013 to November 2014 at A-String Entertainment in Beijing, China.
