Sunita Amin is an Indian classical musician. She has been trained by Dhrupad masters Ustad Bahauddin Dagar and Ustad Zia Fariduddin Dagar in India, and she lives in Jaipur, Rajasthan. She is known for her use of microtones and layering of tempo in various beat cycles, including 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 of a beat variations. Microtones in Dhrupad are produced from various different parts of the vertical column from the navel to the head and involve rigorous early morning practice and voice culture. Sunita Amin has performed all over India, London, Germany, Boston, New York, Seattle, and California, USA. She has been awarded the Shri Gopal Purohit Kala Award and the Women’s Achievement Award by the Rotary Club and has conducted many workshops for school children all over India. She is also an entrepreneur and manufactures fluorescent pigments, exporting to 60 countries. She loves saris and curates sari ensembles for weddings and events.
