Boombastiko

Boombastiko is a project that, starting from Puglia and its musical tradition, travels through time and space with the help of electronic instruments, building a modern and captivating sound. It aims to make people dance by combining local melodies with cultures similar to ours in geographical location and history. The live performance consists of a hybrid set made up of two musicians/DJs who, as in a "battle," alternate DJ styling, live and pure improvisation, using both acoustic and electronic instruments. The two are "surrounded" by instruments, and all the instruments available to them play within this sound ring. Guest musicians take turns during the live performance.

The musical collective Boombastiko was born in October 2019, during a historic mini-tour in Scotland by the Italian band Municipale Balcanica (of which Nico "Mr. Pres" Marziale is a percussionist). On that occasion, the group hosted their sound engineer Claudio “Kougla” De Leo (sound engineer of MB) on stage at the drum machines.

Boombastiko is a perfect medley between DJ-set and live-set, in which world music tracks revisited in an electronic key alternate (played live with synths, samplers, electronic percussions) with moments of pure DJ-styling on which live improvisation occurs. The show ranges in genres, including Transglobal Beatz, Oriental Dub, Balkan Beat, ElectroSwing, Urban Klezmer, Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Tarantella, and Bellydance.
