ABOUT
Bendia leaks out the popular sounds of the megapolis of the Ivory Coast, blending traditional music of West Africa with urban influences. This human adventure arose from the meeting between the djembefola Baba Toure and the young artists of Abobo City, one of the ten municipalities that make up the economic capital.
Ports of call rhythms and fascinating voices emphasize the interbreeding, the mixture of traditional compositions of Mandingo inspiration, and arrangements afresh. Magic moments are propelled by dununs and djembes, attoungblans of the ethnic group Bete, calabash, or the balafon. Melodies are colored by acoustic or electric guitars, and the n'goni, which resonate at the heart of weddings in Abidjan or the parties and rites celebrated in rural Africa.
The dancers perform on stage in a festival of colors and scenes reminiscent of the time of large national steel bands. Masks recall rituals linked to the symbolism of the ancestors and protective spirits.
The singers Keme Fanta and Mamou Kone lend strength to texts sung in the Dioula dialect. Famous griots address subjects of modern life and the youth. Good harmony is the translation of Bendia, with the artists bringing the hopes and struggles of an entire nation. Bendia unites a whole generation of artists rich in generosity.
