Alim Qasimov Autobiography

Qasimov Alim Hamza was born in 1957 in Shamakhi, in Nabur village. Soon after, he moved to Moushvigabad village and later from there to Gouzdek village. In 1964, he entered school #41. In 1972, he finished the 8th form of this school. His father, Hamza Goulmali, worked as a driver; now he is retired. His mother, Madina Zoulfali, is a housewife; she has brought up two sons. In 1976, he took military service in Kaliningrad. In 1977, he got married to Mrs. Tamella. She brought up two daughters and one son; she is a housewife. Fargana Alim was born on August 6, 1979. Now she is a student at Baku Musical Academy. Qadir Alim was born on June 1, 1981. He finished Baku Business University. Dilruba Alim was born on September 6, 1984.

1. Alim Qasimov entered the Music school named after Asaf Zeynalli in 1978. His teacher was Agakhan Abdullayev. In 1982, he graduated from this school. In 1983, he entered the Azerbaijan State Institute of Art named after M.A. Aliyev.
2. During the Soviet Power years, the Ministry of Culture of the Azerbaijan Soviet Republic gave him the title "1st place prize" in celebrations regarding the 59th anniversary of Soviet Power (April 25, 1979).
3. His first performance on Azerbaijan TV was in the program named "First steps in profession" with tar player artist Hagy Mammadov. They performed "Gahargah" mougam (February 6, 1979).
4. He was given a "2nd place Diploma" in the celebrations regarding the 60th anniversary of Soviet Power in Soumgait (April 11, 1979).
5. He took part in the Olympic games in Moscow (June 16 - July 22, 1980).
6. The 2nd-year student Alim Qasimov was given a "Letter of Honour" for his active participation with Zardab region workers (March 27, 1981).
7. He took part in the International Music Symposium in Samarqand (1983 - 1986).
8. He was given a title for his success in vocal art activity and generally, for his successful activity in the social life of the Institute during his study at the Institute.
9. The social society department of Azerbaijan State University named after S.M. Kirov gave a "Letter of Honour" to singer Alim Qasimov for his active participation in the aesthetic training of students.
10. At his 3rd-year study at the University, he was given a "Letter of Honour" for his active participation in the social and political life of the University (December 15, 1986).
11. Alim Qasimov was given a "Lenin Komsomol" Diploma in 1988.
12. Alim Qasimov was given a Diploma for his participation in the 22nd national folk festival of America, which took place in the Smithsonian Institute.
13. The presidium of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Soviet Republic gave him the title "Artist of Labour" of the Azerbaijan Soviet Republic (October 12, 1988).
14. The Professional Union Committee gave a "Letter of Honour" to Alim Qasimov for his active participation in the Cultural - social events which took place at the University (1989).
15. He was given a Medal of Music during his visit to Bonn city in Germany (1989).
16. He was given an "I Degree Diploma" in the competition of musicians named after G. Garyagdi (1989).

33. He was awarded $50 and the "Houmay" prize (October 13, 1997).
34. "Euro Asia" newspaper conferred the "Artist of the 1997 Year" Diploma to Alim Qasimov for his great contribution to Mougam (1997).

38. Regarding the UNESCO award, TV 6 channel, the presentation of "Love's Deep Ocean" CD, week artist of Interline from 14 to 21, the presentation of the film about Alim Qasimov and the procedure of conferring UNESCO Diploma and Medal in Aachen (Germany) - November 19, 1999.
39. The CD "Love's Deep Ocean," which took the 9th place in the European Worldwide Music Map, was presented by the radios in 47 European Countries.
40. The same CD was presented in France in all musical posts of FNAC shops all year round; the articles about Alim Qasimov appeared in the pages of the famous magazine "Geo."
41. The Diploma of "German phonographic critics" situated in Munich and Hamburg (Germany) was conferred on the same CD, and beginning from 01.03.2000, he became a member of this society. The most famous magazine in Germany, "Hymn," presented a big report about Alim Qasimov. This CD was recorded together with his daughter Fargana.
42. The newspaper "Resonance" organized a competition "Music 1999," and Alim Qasimov took the 1st place in the nomination of Folk Music among 5 male musicians. Unfortunately, the Diploma was not presented (December 20, 1999).
43. He is a winner of the competition "Grand Prix" arranged by Space TV Channel.

46. The CD "Love's Deep Ocean" has changed from the 9th place to the 5th out of 10 in the European Worldwide Music Map after receiving the Diploma of German phonographic critics (January 26, 2000).
47. Alim Qasimov was given the right to sing as a soloist; he was given the right of working as a Lecturer of the Opera training Department.
