Debut Matuki album, INJO, releasing 7th March 2016
Matuki are an 11-piece category-defying band who seem destined for greatness as their first live gig was at Glastonbury Festival. Led by master drummer and lead vocalist, Ebou Abraham, they ignore the path chosen by most bands, concentrating instead on festivals and anywhere big enough to hold 11 blisteringly good musicians. They're based in Bristol, a city renowned for its multicultural dance music.
Their debut album, Injo, fuses Afro-groove and full-on urban funk, with psychedelic influences, resulting in mesmerizing tunes with heavyweight horn lines. Having gained an enviable reputation as a live band, Matuki are now touring to promote the album. Recommendations are to drink lots of fluids and wear loose clothing.
