ABOUT
Born in Greece, Marilena Chrisohoidis, a soprano, actress, and santur player, follows a diverse career that finds her performing at opera houses, concert halls, and theatres as a soloist, actress, and musician.
Born in Athens in 1991, Marilena started having piano lessons at the age of 7, which led her to attend the Ilion Music School and also study santur and tamboura, winning prizes and scholarships. Her family originates from Asia Minor, and this is the reason why she studied the santur in the first place. Today, she delivers santur lessons in conservatories, while she also takes part in orchestras and performances. Her last performance was with the Mobile Orchestra in Mikis Theodorakis' "Axion Esti," a celebration for the 90 years of Mikis Theodorakis. She also participated in The Mediterranean Dimension 2018 in Malta, an intercultural project, representing Greece by playing the santur.
