ABOUT
The Mexican group Libertad América, formed in 1979, celebrates 30 years of work, which has distinguished itself by playing the great authors, musicians, and poets of Latin America, performing folklore and the New Song, establishing its trench in Ciudad Juárez, one of the most important borders of Northern Mexico, and one of the national spaces hardest hit by border issues. It is a geographical space where keeping our culture, roots, and Latin customs is a permanent battlefield in the face of the continuing commercial avalanche invasion. After 30 years of silence (a decade! An eternity), Libertad América regrouped in 1998 to honor Latin American music, looking for an artistic proposal that goes beyond their national borders with the aim of continuing to pluck strings and remain active in the training of new generations of musicians focused on the cultural manifestation of popular creation. In their performances, they use acoustic instruments such as the quena, the panpipes, clarinet, saxophones, charangos, bass, guitars, Venezuelan cuatro, and Colombian tiple, as well as percussion instruments, creating an atmosphere of mestizo harmonies that gives the song a distinctive musical style. During its existence, Libertad América has participated in concerts and festivals of prestigious popularity, having presented collective and individual events on CD. They have performed in Juárez, El Paso, TX, Las Cruces, NM, Tucson, AZ, Chihuahua, Hidalgo del Parral, Delicias, Torreón, Nogales, Cd. Obregón, Navojoa, Mazatlán, Mexico City, Zacatecas, Puebla, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, among others. Libertad América has given concerts and shared stages with first-level artists including Pepe Aguilar (Mexico), Inti-Illimani (Chile), Amparo Ochoa (Mexico), Guadalupe Trigo (Mexico), Nacha Guevara (Argentina), Silencio (Mexico), and Savia Nueva (Bolivia), Huayrapamushka (Mexico), La Pader (Mexico), among others.
