My name is GIOVANNI KIYINGI,Am a Ugandan Folk music, world music and afro-house music Artist. As a multi-instrumentalist (Uganda indigenous instruments), My unique sound is defined by rich instrumental textures and rhythmic influences from Uganda, Africa and beyond. Am innovative especially in how I fuse all these influences to create a sound that defines Me as an Artist.
I play indigenous instruments like Tube fiddle (Endingidi), Thumb Piano (Akogo), African harp (Adungu), Traditional flute (Endere), Drums (Engoma), xylophone (Amadiinda)etc.
I have performed at large music festivals in Uganda, across Africa and the rest of the world. my authenticity and sharing of my talent with others has made me work / share stage with good musicians in Africa and outside Africa i.e. Crow and the Canyon band in Uganda ( Uganda national theatre and Makerere University)-US Embassy, Pam Award winner Suzan Kerunen, multiple Award winner Maurice Kirya, Myco ouma, Mathambo from south Africa, Kinobe Herbert at PEARL RHYTHM FESTIVAL(Uganda), Dr Mulatu Astatke (father of Etho- jazz) at Jazz village (Ethiopia), Joel ssebunjo at Doa Doa Santuri festival (Uganda), Kenya’s Makadem, Sarabi band at PAWA (kenya),SONDEKA(Kenya),Fete de la musique (Uganda). Milege world music festival (Uganda),Bayimba international festival(Uganda), Illimba cultural festival (Tanzania), Utam festival (Kenya) and Laba arts festival (Uganda).
Europe Harmonie festival (Germany),Ethno Germany 2016(Germany) and 2018, Ethno Flanders 2018(Belgium), Drounte festival 2016 and 2018 ( Belgium) plus many cultural workshops and performances in Switzerland, Netherlands,Czech Republic and France.
I was one of the Ugandan artists chosen alongside Fr Michael ssenfuma to welcome POPE FRANCIS to Uganda at Kololo on 27th November 2015 with a NEWN DAY.
Am currently working on my fourth Album NOMADS and looking forward to more collaboration with many artists around.
