Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
ABOUT
Esperanzah! takes place during the first weekend of August. Esperanzah! is an invitation to dance, to dream, for people of all colors to come together with open minds, in the unique, prestigious setting of the Abbey of Floreffe, near Namur in Belgium. It's a three-day-long party featuring artists and creators loyal to their musical roots, from all four corners of the planet. The program fuses African, Latin American, Eastern European, and local roots music, and is the fruit of a concerted effort to bring current music back to its roots in traditional instruments and rhythms.
Three stages will host more than 36 groups from all over the world, artists with recognized talents as well as some to be discovered… without forgetting the walking orchestras, jugglers, and other street artists.
Esperanzah! is also a friendly place to wander between the "Place aux Possibles," the cinema festival, works of art, a kids' village, craftsmen, and world restaurants, free water (Gratiz water), a fair trade cocktail bar, 24-hour Radio Esperanzah!… two camping sites.
Since its creation, the festival has tried to refine its organization towards a coherent approach of global respect.
Our objective is to deepen the awareness of our public around responsible initiatives, citizens, and sustainable development for which we already put concrete choices into action, according to 5 axes: cultural, environmental, social, economic, but also by linking it with the North-South issues and a mobilization of the public in favor of a more just and fairer world.
