We are Dramali, a Groningen-based African band—a combination that goes well. We are a melting pot of cultures, which is reflected in our music: swinging, versatile, and contagious. The band was formed around the Malian musical all-rounder Dra Diarra. Dra played in bands such as the world-class Rail Band (with Salif Keita) and Zani Diabaté's Super Djata Band. We play Malian pentatonic music based on the Ngoni with Western influences. The repetitive Ngoni melodies have a trance-like effect and lay the foundation for the music.
