ABOUT
Banda is a world-music band from Bratislava (Slovakia), founded in 2003.
The band plays traditional folk songs in contemporary arrangements. The members are renowned folk musicians with long-time experience in folk music and other genres.
The band's music is based on the genuine, authentic roots of Slovak folk music. It is also inspired by other music genres – old music, blues, jazz, beat, as well as folk music of other countries – particularly Balkan, Celtic, Slavic, Indian, Caribbean, and Latin-American music.
Banda uses acoustic instruments and rich vocals with respect to tradition – but in a brand new, original guise.
Band members:
Samo Smetana (violin, mandolin, bouzouki, tambourine, vocals)
Alžbeta Lukáčová (dulcimer, accordion, percussions, vocals)
Ivan Hanula (viola, mandolin, bouzouki, vocals)
Peter Obuch (bass, vocals)
Igor Ajdži Sabo (drums, percussion, vocals)
Eva Brunovská (vocals, keyboard)
