ABOUT
ARFANA is a musical initiative of vocalist İsmet Aydın and pianist/composer Kaan Bıyıkoğlu, which aims to bring the folk songs and melodies from various styles and regions of Anatolia together with the rhythmic textures and sounds of contemporary jazz, in order to put forward a fresh and present-day musical experience. ARFANA is an old and traditional word meaning musical gatherings in the Anatolia of ancient times. The band members chose this word as their name since the music that they make is a collective act of playing, re-thinking, interpreting, and sharing their experiences.
