My name is Thanasis Kakavogiannis, and I am from Greece.
My involvement with music, which has been my great love, started from my teenage years. Since then, I became a music producer and DJ and started a collection of vinyl, CDs, mini discs, etc. Recently, apart from studying and practicing a lot with the traditional music of my country, I started dealing as well with "Rebetiko," a type of Greek urban folk music, which has a lot of influence from Byzantine musicals, a music of really great value and interest. For your information, UNESCO has included Rebetiko songs in the world's cultural heritage. Here I give you a sample of my most favourite songs from Rebetiko and traditional music, interpreted by younger generations of musicians and performers, eager to keep this tradition alive.
