ABOUT
The ensemble Sofi & the Baladis (Sofi & the Locals) features soulful and richly textured performances of an array of musical traditions that lie at the heart of Israel's diverse and historic cultures.
The songs are ancient prayers from the ancestors of the Samaritan people, written approximately 4000 years ago.
The Samaritans succeeded in preserving the ancient Hebrew... the ancient Hebrew that the prophet Moses spoke... Jesus spoke...
Sofi Tsedaka, a singer and musician from Israel, was born into this smallest ethnoreligious community in the world that has succeeded in surviving for over 125 generations in the land of Israel.
For over 20 years, Sofi has presented on stage and TV. She has also participated in many festivals in Israel and around the world.
Sofi sings, plays, and tells about her unique and mysterious community.
