ABOUT
Daniel Sarkis and Jorge Brasil formed Mandragora Duo in 1999 in Brasilia city, Brazil. Their instrumental music has been developed upon a fusion of Classical Music, Latin American Folk Music, and World Music. Their music identity carries involving feelings and exquisite technique. They evoke the velvetiness of an acoustic guitar sound and the strength of the steel strings (6 and 12-string acoustic guitar). In addition, they stand out for the utilization of different tunings and polyrhythms in their songs to extend the sound possibilities of their instruments. They are always pursuing unique melodies and rhythms that speak for them. As prominent representatives of instrumental music in Brazil, they have been performing in the main circuits of Jazz and Brazilian Music Houses in many cities and have also played at many International Music Festivals throughout Brazil, Latin America, and Europe (timeline below). Their music has no limits, neither for languages nor for styles; it touches everyone. Mandragora Duo released their debut studio album in 2004, homonymously named "Mandragora," and they are currently finishing their second album "Paralelo 31," which will be released at the beginning of 2014.
