ABOUT
For the last 20 years, KRAUKA has ravaged Viking markets and festivals in Lithuania and California, and countries in between, spreading the pagan words from the Viking era through a wild set of lyres, whistles, drums, and live equipment.
KRAUKA is a unique orchestra both by virtue of its compositions and instrumentation. Icelandic "Kvæðmand" songs, shawm, lyre, jew's harp, overtone and bone flutes, together with electric bass and drums, create a magical and distinctive universe. The music is inspired by old Nordic melodies and the Icelandic singing tradition, while the lyrics have roots in the Sagas and Nordic mythology.
KRAUKA has elements of Nordic folk music, crooked rhythms, and modern folk and pop. Since its start 20 years ago, KRAUKA has toured throughout Northern Europe, the USA, and the Baltic countries. KRAUKA has released 8 albums.
