Ikati Esengxoweni

Cat in the Bag" is the rough translation of their name, Ikati Esengxoweni. The alternative, world music nucleus is the duo of composers, Lark Wantu and Anam Manyati, two of the most productive talents to come out of Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa, of late. Accompanied by indigenous instruments, violin, bass, drums, and guitar, the voices of Wantu and Manyati open a torrent of rhythms and sounds that proudly wear the DNA of their continent. The band has performed at numerous music festivals such as: Primavera Pro - Barcelona - 2016 & 2018 Midem - France - 2016 Afropunk Jhb - 2018 The band has had their debut single "Ting Ting" featured as a soundtrack on the hit South African TV drama series, Lockdown, Seasons 2, 3, and 4. Ikati Esengxoweni has appeared on Barcelona TV on the national Catalan news as well as the South African entertainment show, Selimathunzi.
