ABOUT
The CSULA Afro Latin Ensemble, under the direction of Dr. Paul De Castro, is focused on the performance of Afro Latin music (Salsa, Timba, etc.). It is the performance ensemble of the Master's Degree option in Afro Latin Music at California State University, Los Angeles. This program trains students in all theory, performance, arranging, and historical aspects of the Afro Latin traditions. Among the adjunct faculty in this program are Iris Sandra Cepeda (voice), Calixto Oviedo (drums and percussion), Edgar Hernandez (bass), Danilo Lozano (flute), among others.

The CSULA Afro Latin Ensemble has performed internationally in Cuba and China and is often featured at local museums such as the Autry National Center and the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA).
