Academic Society For Music Cherishing GUSLE Kikinda Serbia

Academic Society for Music "Gusle" from Kikinda, Serbia, is the oldest cultural and artistic society in Vojvodina and one of the oldest in Serbia. The first official performance of the Society "Gusle" was on February 14, 1876. We have more than six hundred active members, distributed in six groups of folklore dance schools, as well as in numerous orchestras, ensembles, sections, singing groups, and choruses. We were guests in more than three hundred places and held about four and a half thousand concerts. We have been publishing the "Gudalo" magazine, the oldest music magazine in the Balkans, since the 19th century, initiated the founding of the educational department for traditional dances, have our own Scientific and Investigative Board, Workshop for the Reconstruction of Costumes, and conduct ethno-musicology field research.
