The Duo Rocha Gândara is composed of João Carlos Rocha, music composer and pianist, and Paula Gândara, voice and poetry.

João Carlos Rocha is a Conductor, Pianist, and Composer. He has worked with orchestras from the USA, Germany, Italy, and Brazil and has received national and international prizes in both areas. He was the winner of the "Eleazar de Carvalho Prize for Young Conductors and Soloists" in 2012, currently the only Brazilian conductor's competition. As a composer, he received the honor prize in the "Maurice Ravel Composition's Competition" in Bergamo, Italy, as well as the "Brazilian's Musical Panorama" in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, both for symphony orchestra. As a pianist, he has dedicated himself to the study, performance, and creation of new compositions and collaborative arrangements for the standards of Brazilian Music repertoire. joaocarlosrocha.com

Paula Gândara is a Professor of Lusophone Studies at Miami University (Oxford, OH), a published author, poet, dancer, and singer. She is a multifaceted artist from Lisbon (Portugal) living in the USA since 2000. As a fifteen-year-old, she was accepted into the Performing Arts School of Gothenburg (Sweden), and she performed several times with the Dance Company of Lisbon (Portugal) under the direction of Rui Horta. As an author, Paula has works published in the USA, Portugal, and Brazil, having also received a "Nosside, International Prize of Poetry" in 2009. As a singer, she performed in the World Music Fest and the UniDiversity Festival in Cincinnati. She has also organized and performed in pedagogically-oriented projects such as "Carmen Miranda" and "Chiquinha Gonzaga Day."
