ABOUT
The Pan African Pentatonic Project
Sounds of the Sahel flowing with the Nile
An artistic challenge based around two world-famous musicians: desert bluesman Alhousseini Anivolla from Niger and Girum Mezmur, jazz guitarist from Ethiopia, supported by four outstanding Ethiopian musicians, among them the 78-year-old legendary mandolin player Ayele Mamo.
A unique collaboration from two unlikely regions of Africa. It is an experimental project at its very essence, which keeps on evolving wherever it goes. It is not an end product.
It combines multiple styles and influences at a given time: Ethno, blues, jazz, African - world music at its finest!
