ABOUT
The Rainhas do AutoEngano are the Portuguese Madalena Palmeirim and the Brazilians living in Lisbon, Natalia Green and Zoe Dorey, three singers and multi-instrumentalists with long careers. In February 2020, Zoe invited Madalena and Natalia Green, an Italian-Brazilian singer-songwriter recently arrived in Lisbon, for a dinner party, and the single "Eu Jurei" was born. Even in lockdown, more tunes were created. The Rainhas do AutoEngano perform original songs mainly in Portuguese, occasionally in other languages like French. Their voices are accompanied by the cavaquinho, the guitar, and the trumpet in a dance between Pop, Bossa Nova, MPB, and Folk. The Rainhas do AutoEngano are the result of an improbable encounter. In February 2021, they released their first single "Eu Jurei" with a video clip directed by Joana Linda. In April, they performed in Cape Verde, and during the summer, they toured around Portugal. The song "Eu Jurei" received airplay on several national broadcasters and was featured in the Continente playlist – a wider national supermarket – and in New Talents Fnac 2021. "Quarantena," released on July 16th, was included in several Spotify editorial playlists (New Music Friday Portugal) and on Apple Music Portugal, as well as others tailored by users. "Gota," their third original theme released in August, was chosen for the Spotify editorial playlist New Music Friday Portugal. Now on stage, Madalena and Zoe are accompanied by the guitar player Manuel Dordio. Both Madalena Palmeirim – with "Mondays" (EP-2014) and "Right as Rain" (CD-2019) – and Zoe Dorey – with "Respire" (CD-2008), "One" (CD-2012), and "Inspire" (CD-2014) – have solo projects that they continue to develop. Madalena and Zoe had one project in common before Rainhas do AutoEngano, and without knowing each other: in different countries, both released one song every week for an entire year. Both projects were DIY and released on their YouTube channels. Palmeirim released every Monday, naming it "Week in Week Out" (2014). Dorey transformed the singles into the album "JustPire" (2015).
