ABOUT
João Morais was born in Lisbon in 1973, and in 2016 he exchanged the electric guitar for the Viola Campaniça, a traditional Portuguese chordophone that is the voice of the instrumental project O GAJO.
In 2017, he recorded "Longe do Chão", in 2019 "As 4 Estações do GAJO", in 2021 "Subterrâneos", and 2023 begins with the release of the new album "Não Lugar".
O GAJO plays regularly from north to south of Portugal with a few trips to Germany, Holland, Finland, Poland, and Macau.
Through the hands of O GAJO, the Viola Campaniça gains wings and explores new sound territories, never losing its connection to its homeland, Portugal.
