ABOUT
Fusionarium is an indie-alternative collective that merges world music and electronic sounds to create immersive experiences.
Fusionarium is the spaceship that takes you to an alien planet where ancient and modern, familiar and exotic, are reinterpreted through the fusion of acoustic instruments and electronic soundscapes.
"[Luigi] is a fresh and distinctive voice on the Irish music scene."
— Mark McCambridge (Arborist), Performer/Composer, Independent
Luigi Cirillo, the creative force behind Fusionarium, grew up in Naples, immersed in a rich musical heritage passed down through generations. After starting as a saxophonist at 13, he dedicated himself to guitar and voice, instruments that helped him tell stories of love, migration, and resilience.
A regular voice at Bert’s Jazz Club, he took on the challenge from the artistic director when asked to create a new show, celebrating the passage of the Giro d’Italia through Northern Ireland.
Luigi revolutionised his repertoire, shifting from straight jazz to Pino Daniele, blending Neapolitan traditions with modern influences in a bold and risky experiment. The audience was fascinated, marking the success of the venture.
This became the final encouragement for Luigi to embrace this fusion as his new artistic identity.
Today, Luigi draws from his Neapolitan roots and global influences to create music that speaks of Belfast as well as the Middle East; he incorporates the sounds of Indian instruments, giving voice to themes of migration, the environment, and resilience.
“What I love about Luigi’s music is the variety and width of his musical ambition… it is clear that Luigi is not scared to push into ‘unfamiliar’ spaces and experiment while at the same time maintaining his own identity throughout. His unique blend of tradition and innovation is both timeless and fresh. Luigi bares his soul and allows his emotional integrity to shine… definitely an artist to follow. I’m excited to see what comes next.”
— Mark Smulian, multi-award-winning producer and composer, Atlantic
His journey has led him to represent the United Kingdom at the Cultural Olympiad in Paris 2024, perform at festivals across Europe, and collaborate with renowned artists such as Linley Hamilton.
“[…] a positive force who creates a musical landscape that appeals to all…”
— Linley Hamilton, Musician/Broadcaster, BBC
Fusionarium is the music of those who refuse limits, whether geographical or cultural. It is a sonic meeting place, where every note tells stories of connection, bonds, and the perfect synergy of the environment. Fusionarium is an environment in itself. Fusionarium explores migration and resilience with the logic of an ecosystem: just as in nature, everything functions and fits together perfectly, in Fusionarium, each sound element does the same, creating a new natural soundscape.
With a vinyl release in 2025 and live concerts planned across Europe, Fusionarium continues to invite audiences to discover, connect, and celebrate the beauty of One-World Music.
