Black Mango is a band from Bamako, Mali, formed by musicians from various bands that mix Malian roots with Western rock influences. A first EP, "Naked Venus/Soft Kicks," was released in 2014 by Glitterbeat Records. "Naked Venus" is an instrumental adaptation of the Velvet Underground's "Venus in Furs" with guest Zoumana Tereta, the Malian Sokou master (Sokou is the traditional fiddle). These 2015 recordings invite some of the best vocal talents on some tracks, like blues master Samba Touré or the young talented Mariam Koné.
