ABOUT
Mihael Hrustelj (1991) is a Slovenian guitarist, composer, and poet. His first encounter with music was through a small accordion and a little CASIO keyboard, which he was gifted as a child. He was fascinated by exploring the different sounds on that toy. His early musical creativity began with metal and rock bands, evolving into playing in big bands and jazz-rock fusion groups in Slovenia. After seriously committing to the guitar, he abandoned the idea of becoming a pilot and instead immersed himself in classical music.

As a classical guitar player, he began delving into this wonderful instrument, discovering that when skillfully played, it can be absolutely enchanting. That is why, to this day, the classical guitar with nylon strings remains his main instrument.

He participated in international classical guitar competitions but soon realized that music has nothing to do with competing and that the idea of having a career based solely on ‘reciting’ already written pieces was too dull, at least from an artistic perspective.

His solo career started in 2012, and since then, he has had the opportunity to tour and perform in several European countries and festivals, including Germany, Austria, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Croatia, and Slovenia. He has also performed outside Europe, most notably during his regular tours in East Asia, particularly in Taiwan.

After a decade in the Netherlands, where he also studied music at the Conservatorium in Rotterdam, Mihael returned to Slovenia, where he now draws inspiration from the country's rich natural landscapes and musical heritage. His studio is stationed in the woods in the northern part of Slovenia, enabling him to take regular mountain hikes and enjoy breaks with barefoot walks in the forest.

As one of the more influential guitar virtuosos and underground rising Slovenian musicians, with six solo albums, acclaimed collaborations, positive international and local reviews from critics and musicians, as well as a great number of live shows and tours under his belt, he continues doing what he does best—creating music.
