ABOUT
I have been playing folk music since 1956, when I began taking guitar lessons at the age of nine. I began performing in 1965, and I have performed across the US and in several countries in Europe and Latin America, accompanying myself on guitar, 5-string banjo, autoharp, mountain dulcimer, ukulele, and spoons. I began as an adult performer and continue doing so, including concerts specially for seniors. I often lend my skills as a song leader to social causes such as immigrant rights, peace, and the fight against strip mining. However, most of my work has been with children and families since the mid-1970s. I interweave my music with all kinds of folktales from around the world. I recorded my first solo album in 1975, and I have been a contributor to several others, including those by John Martyn, Si Kahn, and the Fiddle and Bow Society of Winston-Salem, North Carolina. I have been working on a children's song and story recording called "One World Family" for the last 25 years, and I hope to finish it soon!
