This piece is trying to hunt the raw energy and the empowering feeling many tango musicians get when playing the rhythmic parts of e.g. a Pugliese style-tango. For the non- tanguero that means a very accented rhythmic way of playing, bursting with energy. The challenge was: how minimalistic can a theme be? For the sake of the contrast, here it is juxtaposed with some very freely interpreted melodic lines. Funfact; In the tango-world that is called to "say" the melody or to "phrase" (fraseado).
The title indicates playing with attitude, with balls and “mugre” could literally be translated to dirt under your nails?
