ABOUT
Edgar Muzah is a musician, bass player, music composer, arranger, songwriter, and music producer based in South Africa. With a unique and very distinct sound that is easily traced to his African origins, Muzah has mastered the sound of his music, which he calls Music Of The World (World Music). He has perfectly infused musical rhythms and sounds from around Africa and the world at large to create his own sound, inspired by some of the greats that have walked the road before him.
Edgar’s music is very sincere and is an amplification of his life experiences and a perfect representation of his dreams. With his love for Africa and African music, he makes it a point to address African issues and paint a clear picture of the true Africa he sees through his eyes.
With the recent release of his debut album "Son Of A Tribe" as a solo artist, Muzah is getting the attention of many world music and world jazz lovers from across the world. "Son of A Tribe" went on to land 2 nominations from the South African Music Awards (SAMA) and Afrikan Music Magazine Awards (Afrimma) in 2022. The broad reach of the album clearly shows that his music is sincere and heartfelt as each and every one of his compositions has found a home in people’s lives.
Edgar has worked (toured, recorded, performed) with some of South Africa’s/Africa’s finest musicians as a music producer and bass player. Ringo Madlingozi, Phila Madlingozi, Nathi Mankayi, Amanda Black, Blaq Diamond, Nomcebo Zikode, Ami Faku, Bye Beneco, Willis Wataffi Afirika, MXO, Sliq Angel, ROOTS 2000, Ntsika Ngxanga, Putuma Tiso, to name a few.
This gave birth to Edgar Muzah & Friends, a project where he brings most of the artists he has worked with, produced music for, composed, and wrote music for together to a series of performances. Together with a group of his friends, Muzah won the ESP Afrika Young Legends Competition in 2018, leading him to perform at the 20th Cape Town International Jazz Festival in March 2019.
With the help of his management - REkre8 - he signed a publishing deal with one of the biggest publishing companies in Africa - Gallo Music Publishing, as well as a distribution deal for his music with the biggest digital music distribution aggregator in Africa - Content Connect Africa.
Edgar is also a brand ambassador for one of the biggest guitar manufacturers - Cort Guitars - a company based in South Korea with branches in Indonesia and China.
He is also a brand ambassador for Fusion Bags - an England-based gig bag manufacturer.
Constantly looking for ways to improve his performances, he endeavors to take Music Of The World internationally through touring ventures and collaborations with agencies and artists from all over the world. As part of the collaborations with international agencies, Edgar got to perform at Amandla Music for Tolerance, Respect, and Peace as well as Fest Der Kulturen in Osnabrück, Germany. The tour was a success, and he is set to go back on a longer tour.
