ABOUT
Barbora Botošová is a versatile violin virtuoso, experienced in traditional and classical music, Balkan music, and jazz improvisation. Continuing in the footsteps of her grandfather, the legendary Slovak violin virtuoso Ján Berky Mrenica, she is representing the World Music and Ethno-Jazz genres. Barbora founded and led her first ensemble at the age of 21 and became a respected female "primas" across Slovakia. Her band, made up of the nation's top talents, weaves together a rich tapestry of sounds, blending her cultural Roma influences to craft music that transcends borders. Winner of the 2023 Roma Spirit Culture Award, Barbora released her second album "Roshambo" after a successful debut album "Colours of My Soul," which captures the identity and colors of the Roma music of the world. Her own compositions and original arrangements connecting jazz, flamenco, salsa, classical music, the Balkans, and lyricism transmit an inexhaustible passion for making music and stir listeners from their seats, who almost invariably, at the end of the concert, show their appreciation with enthusiastic standing ovations.
