Alterne invites the listener to step into a world of dreams, where innovation and tradition collide.
Alterne seeks to combine influences from traditional music with modern songwriting and Danish lyrics, reflecting emotions such as doubt, longing, hope, and dreams, especially from the perspective of early adulthood. It embraces the presence of strength and vulnerability, which often go hand in hand.
With an interesting blend of traditional instruments such as Hardanger fiddle, kantele, accordion, guitar, stomp box, and vocals, Alterne creates an atmospheric soundscape with enchanting harmonies, repetitive motifs, and virtuoso melodies, which emphasize the musical narratives of the songs. They consciously and effectively blur the lines between folk, pop, and ambient in a timeless and unique musical expression.
They met through their studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki (FI). Since then, they have developed a unique musical portrait that fuses elements from folk music, pop, and ambient genres.
