ABOUT
Aegonia is a fantasy project that includes a series of novels and atmospheric metal music with lyrics inspired by the world of the books. So far, the artists have released two novels, "Tales from the Lands of Aegonia," one LP album "The Forgotten Song" (2019), and two folklore singles based on the most mystical part of Bulgarian folklore, closely related to the ancient Rhodope Mountains (2019). The newest addition to the project is the EP "Moonlight Tales," which had a premiere at the end of August 2022. The magical and fulfilling melodies of the project can be played either with the heavy sound of a full metal band or with acoustic classical instruments and vocals.
FANTASY
Aegonia was founded by Elitsa Stoyanova and Nikolay Nikolov. They started by playing short improvisations on guitar, violin, and vocals. They soon noticed that the lyrics they wrote were connected to each other and were telling a fantasy story. Every new song they wrote was like another piece of the puzzle that they later called "Tales from the Lands of Aegonia." Eli decided to write this story as a fantasy novel with the writer's name Nea Stand. The writing process led to more music, and the music – to more facts from the story.
FOLKLORE
Aegonia's founding members have always been fascinated by the beauty of nature and the authentic folklore music. They have played in a traditional orchestra for authentic Bulgarian music for two years on the traditional instruments kaval and gadulka. This influenced them deeply and inspired them to compose songs with lyrics in Bulgarian that sound pretty much like authentic Bulgarian folklore songs.
