A Banda!

A Banda! is among the longest-lived musical groups in Brazil (although not in continuous activity), with the same initial formation. The youngest member of the sextet has more than seven decades of life and almost sixty years on stage. With so much road behind them, they make a sound that is both nostalgic and pop, urban and calm, with diversified musicality, blending Latin and Afro rhythms, percussive and, sometimes, unusual.

With special attention to the themes and poetry of the lyrics, the songs (some composed for theater plays) by this original group wander between a certain appeal to the romanticism and naivety of the past and a modernity present in the boldness of the arrangements. They use unusual acoustic instruments in the pop world (tenor guitar, regional drums, harmonium, kazoo, whistles, vibraphone, fife, recorder, bouzouki), in addition to handcrafted resources created in the studio.

And even because of the pauses in their long career, they were only recently able to record some of their compositions (all collective creations of the six artists), for the listening pleasure of their audience.
