ABOUT
We are the archaic Belarusian singing group ASTROŪNA. The ensemble was formed in 2019 in Minsk, Belarus. It unites people who are in love with traditional Belarusian music. ASTROŪNA performs archaic Belarusian songs in the traditional singing manner both a cappella and with the accompaniment of ancient Belarusian instruments – lira (hurdy-gurdy), duda (bagpipe), cymbaly (hammered dulcimer), dudka (pipe), and violin.
We present traditional ritual songs that can still be heard from country performers in our country. It represents all ethnographic regions of Belarus, as well as Belarusian ethnic border areas. The songs we sing are examples of the distinctive Belarusian singing tradition. You are welcome to join us on our musical journey through space and time.
We are:
Hanna Silivonchyk (voice), Palina Kuranovich (voice, hammered dulcimer), Katsiaryna Arakcheeva (voice), Yarash Malishevski (bagpipe, hurdy-gurdy, Jew's harp, zaleika, pipes, violin, mandolin, harmonica, stalki).
