About "Rakes Of Mallow / Rouge River Valley"
When they started playing together, Anwar and Chris discovered they knew a tune in common with different names. The English brought an ancient Irish fiddle tune called The Rakes of Mallow to India when they were ruling the subcontinent, and taught it to the local musicians, who made it their own. Chris knew it on the fiddle and Anwar knew it slightly differently on the sitar, but the two versions matched and locked in together. We then married it with our own tune called Rouge River Valley.
