ABOUT
Nahira is the creative union of saz player and singer Maksoud Karez, and multi-instrumentalist Milu Grutta, who adds synths, electronics, and piano to the ensemble. Together, they produce a dynamic fusion of musical styles and influences, drawing from traditional Turkish and Persian music, minimalism, contemporary classical, 70's progressive rock, electric jazz, and the pioneering works of electronic music.

The result of this collaboration is an electrifying blend of tradition and modernity, encapsulating a diverse range of cultural, musical, and poetical elements. The name "Nahira," derived from Sanskrit meaning "light," reflects the duo's artistic mission to illuminate the world through immersive sonic experiences that engage all senses.

Nahira's lyrics originate from traditional Turkish and Persian poetry, exploring profound themes such as the meaning of life, the universe, love, and the mysteries beyond human understanding. This lyrical depth adds a contemplative layer to their music, enhancing the emotional and intellectual resonance of their compositions.

Through Nahira, Maksoud Karez and Milu Grutta aspire to transcend musical boundaries, offering audiences a transformative journey that celebrates the richness of tradition while embracing the boundless possibilities of contemporary sound. Their collaboration exemplifies a quest for beauty and enlightenment, expressed through the universal language of music.
