MARSA MEDIA PRESENTS “THE PASS” — A FOUR-EPISODE MUSIC SERIES

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Denise Marsa unveils The Pass, an original four-part video series showcasing her artistry and the depth of her commitment to making music. A true indie spirit since founding her own label in 1998, Marsa performs The Pass alongside pianist Tracy Stark, weaving humor, honesty, and heart into every note. Originally streamed from NYC’s Revelation Gallery @ St. John’s in the Village on December 31, 2020, the performance has been reimagined into four immersive episodes that celebrate authenticity and endurance in music and in life. Beginning Saturday, October 18, the series captures the purity and power in Marsa’s voice paired with Tracy Stark’s evocative piano playing—a rare, stripped down experience that highlights each song to its pure essence.

Marsa created the piece with theater legend Gretchen Cryer as her mentor, and developed the stories and either placed existing songs into the show or wrote new ones. The show has been performed only a few times and premiered in 2018 at The Playground Theatre in London’s Kensington/Chelsea area.
Theatre Weekly wrote: “Denise Marsa's performance at The Playground Theatre titled "The Pass" is a biographical work that intertwines her life stories with songs, exploring themes of independence, self-discovery, and the challenges of the music industry. The show features vignettes that reflect her experiences across various cities and her journey as a singer-songwriter, highlighting her struggles and triumphs in the music business. Marsa aims to create an interactive experience where the audience can engage with her storytelling and music, making it a unique and personal performance.”
The show was also presented and won an award for Best Concert at the 2021 New York Solo Festival. Each episode offers a new layer of Marsa’s story—personal, passionate, and profoundly human. Together, Marsa and Stark deliver performances that celebrate vulnerability, connection, and the enduring power of song.
