ABOUT
Inspired by the poet Rumi, songwriting greats Randy Newman and Neil Young, and the world music fusion of Ry Cooder, Len Seligman's music radiates joy. "When you listen to him, you'll find your spirit lifted to a higher, truer realm—and you may just find yourself dancing!" (IndependentArtistBuzz.com)
Len's awards include:
- First Place (plus 3 Finalist awards), Great American Song Contest; over 1800 songwriters entered
- Finalist, Best Video, Positive Music ("Posi") Awards
- Nominated for four Washington Area Music Awards ("WAMMIES")
- Finalist, Top Conscious Music Songs (2017), Soul Traveler Radio, Australia
Len is a thrilling improviser on guitar, mandolin, and other string instruments. Grammy-winning recording artist David Darling speaks of his "soulful, virtuoso playing." After many years as a PhD computer researcher-geek, Len returned full-time in early 2018 to his first love of music.
Len's new album, "Our Turn Now," will be released in December. It features guest musicians JD Martin and Jan Garrett, Tom Kimmel, Moksha Sommer and Jemal Wade (from HuDost), John Lee Sanders, Jon Seligman, and JP Coley. The title track, "Our Turn Now," is a moving tribute to civil rights icon John Lewis. Len wrote this song after being moved to tears by a recent pilgrimage to Selma, Alabama, where John Lewis, Jimmie Lee Jackson, and other heroes fought powerfully against oppression by getting into "good trouble." It's our turn now.
