ABOUT
John Wubbenhorst is a unique musician who is comfortable with forms both East and West. John started out with extensive training in the Western flute, keyboards, and vocals from many teachers, including Berklee College of Music. In the last three decades, John has had intensive training in classical North Indian music and the bansuri (North Indian bamboo flute). John received his training on the bansuri from the great maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia, as well as other Indian music masters. John has two degrees in World Music from the Rotterdam Conservatorium and has appeared on stage with many greats from East and West, including Larry Coryell, Jack DeJohnette, Ramesh Mishra, Paul Horn, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Anindo Chatterjee, and others. Since the 1990s, John has been leading his own group "Facing East," which features his own compositions that involve all of his influences. He has recorded and played on dozens of recordings and tours throughout the world.
