ABOUT
Born in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay, Horacio Di Yorio is a pianist, keyboardist, composer, and arranger with jazz and classical academic training, along with extensive activity within popular music. Academically, he was trained at Falleri Balzo Conservatory and the School of Music in piano and composition.
He has played professionally as a pianist and keyboardist for popular music since the age of 17. He is currently the pianist, arranger, and musical director for the singers Monica Navarro, Sara Sabah, and Maia Castro. He was the pianist and keyboardist of the band that accompanied Gloria Gaynor on the three consecutive occasions when she visited Uruguay, in a total of six shows. He was also convened by Brazilian singers and authors Juliano Barreto, Fabio Cadore, and Gelson Oliveira for their performances in Uruguay.
In 2007, he joined the UTU's Orchestra (Labour University of Uruguay) as a pianist, after winning the competition for the pianist's place.
In 2002, he joined Rubén Rada's band (one of the most important Uruguayan singers and composers), also being the pianist in the ATC program (Argentinean Public Television): "Lo de Rada" in 2007, and the successful sitcom "Black Sheep". He was in charge of the musical direction of the album presentation shows of "Fan" by R.Rada, in Argentina and Uruguay.
He is also the pianist of the Polyphonic Choir Santa Elena since 1999, with which he has worked on a wide range of different choral works, moving from the "Misa Criolla" by Ariel Ramirez to the recent production of "Orpheus and Eurydice" by Gluck, through symphonic choral works of Vivaldi, Bach, or Nunes.
In previous years, Di Yorio integrated numerous jazz, fusion, or candombe groups, such as Nicolás Mora's Quintet, the Popo Romano's band, Ana Prada, Carmen Pi Quartet, or “La Calenda Beat”, and was co-arranger and pianist for the prestigious vocal quartet “La Otra”.
Horacio Di Yorio has been requested by AGADU (General Association of Authors from Uruguay) and individuals to work as an expert in several plagiarism cases. He has recorded twenty albums and is the artistic producer of ten of them. He has composed and produced music for commercials, multimedia encyclopedias, plays, and documentaries, among which stand out the National Geographic documentaries "Miracle Souls 2" and "Freemasonry, Secret Rituals, from Within."
He has made three solo albums: "The Victory Lap", "High Definition", and "Horacio Di Yorio Group and Guests/Live at Sala Hugo Balzo".
