While researching the Abandolao form, I learned that the name literally means A La Guitarra or To the Guitar. This is because it grew out of a similar form done with trumpets, but when the guitar version came about, the sentiment was that the singer was singing to the guitar. I thought it seemed nice to dedicate a piece to the guitar itself.
