Two minutes of talking points describe how the young poet Hirsh Glick (1922-1944) was so moved by the heroic deeds of female resistance fighter Vitka Kempner that he he wrote this song to commemorate those acts. Vitka had performed the first successful diversionary sabotage act of the Jewish Partisans of Vilna by blowing up a train carrying 200 German soldiers. Vitke survived, but the other female partisans mentioned did not survive. The song is a tribute to these women. Soprano Harriet Bennish is the featured soloist accompanied by Benjamin Gown on accordion and Diana Parmeter on cello.
