ABOUT
ENZA PAGLIARA
...Among the most representative voices of “pizzica” and Apulia traditions...
Italian singer and songwriter in traditional music from Salento, the southeasternmost part of Italy, leads her voice beyond the natural-born social and family environment where she directly heard and spontaneously learned the real traditional sound.
For over 15 years, Enza Pagliara has spread her sound throughout stages in the world, singing with intimate pride Salento traditions and culture consisting of serenades, legends, epic-lyrical chants, and improvised dialogues in the form of stornelli and saint’s invocations for healing.
Moreover, in the last two decades, she has been one of the leading actors in Salento and Apulia musical tradition revaluations. Her action consists of evoking remembrance in memory keepers and pleasing learning disciples.
Musical traditions survive through ages only if lyrics and instruments renew, taking care in keeping the main features that make peculiar sources and extractions.
