Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
ABOUT
Dose de Romeu was formed in June 2012 by musicians who already had a career in Recife's local scene. The main purpose was to create an authorial work in Portuguese without any predefined aesthetics. Since the members of the band came essentially from a rock background, the first ideas were executed with electric guitars and drums, but it soon became evident that the songs demanded something new. Having as their passion, besides rock, local artists like Zé Ramalho, Alceu Valença, and Lenine, it was right after hearing the song "Admirável Gado Novo" that the band found the aesthetic they were looking for to put in their composition, introducing then the acoustic guitar and zabumba. The idea was to not have any cultural barriers and to mix a bit of each influence, everything "dosed" carefully: folk, rock, pop, maracatu, among others.
